I’m Atul Kshirsagar, a Lighting & Compositing Artist focused on creating clear, expressive images through strong lighting fundamentals and visual storytelling. I’ve contributed to feature films and episodic projects, including Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio and Halo, with a focus on mood, color, and story-driven imagery supported by solid technical execution.
My approach to lighting is grounded in core fundamentals such as color, value, readability, and lighting hierarchy. These principles guide my work across live-action, stylized, and animated projects alike. I’ve applied this approach while building efficient lighting setups, supporting a range of visual styles, and delivering comp-ready shots through Nuke-based workflows within structured, shot-based production pipelines.
Outside of production, I continue to refine my lighting through personal work, focusing on CG scenes and look development to strengthen core fundamentals that apply across different styles and pipelines. My passion for visual storytelling extends beyond the studio work. I actively pursue photography and videography, often capturing my own footage and occasionally HDRIs. This hands-on practice informs my lighting decisions and brings a photographer’s eye to composition, contrast, and visual clarity.
